Nightcrawler

When night descends on LA the Nightcrawlers lurk menacingly in the shadows waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. This may sound like a plot of a horror film, but Nightcrawler is a different breed of horror. In this sense Nightcrawlers are those who capture footage of crimes and accidents in the city of Angels and sell them to news broadcasters who fight tooth and nail for the highest ratings. Louis "Lou" Bloom (Jake Gyllenhaal) decides to get into the industry but his sociopathic personality leads him down a dangerous route.

American Sniper

American Sniper is based on the wartime exploits of Chris Kyle (whose autobiography is the film's source material), a sniper regarded as legendary hero in the US army because of his 160 confirmed kills and countless American lives saved because of his actions. American Sniper follows his four tours in Iraq and his attempts to deal with the affects of PTSD following his four tours in Iraq.

Annabelle

If you remember to the fawaway year of 2013 you will recall a short prologue at the beginning of the horror hit The Conjuring about some creepy doll that haunts a pair of nurses. The film, Annabelle, is simply about how the doll fell into their possession. John and Mia Form (Ward Horton and Annabelle Wallis) are a happily married couple with a baby along away, it is all seemingly blissful and perfect that is until two nutters from the cult The Disciples of the Ram invade their home and in the process impart an evil spirit into the Annabelle doll

Whiplash

The circlejerking of this film on sites such as Reddit, IMDB, and other sites all over the internet has been nothing short of overwhelming to those who have yet to see it. The thousands of word of mouth responses that have sung its praises and drummed up anticipation gave the film the impossible task of matching the crescendo of praise that has repeatedly been heaped upon it. So to report that Whiplash is nothing short of absolutely extraordinary is greatly pleasing. Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller) is a student at New York's Shaffer Conservatory music school, there he joins the community band under the stewardship of Terence Fletcher (J.K Simmons) as they compete at a national Jazz festival. The film's central story is based on a student-teacher relationship, where the student shows promise and the teacher is determined to squeeze that potential out of him in ways that make Scrubs’Dr Cox’s teaching methods look as though they wouldn’t mentally harm a five year old.

Jupiter Ascending

Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis) is apparently the exact recantation of a mother of three royal siblings vying for control of planet Earth, this of course totally unknown to her until a half wolf, half human crossbreed named Caine Wise (Channing Tatum) saves her from Balem Abrasax's (Eddie Redmayne) agents and introduces her to a world where alien royalty harvest the residents of planet Earth (and other planets) for their own Darwinist creation that halts the aging process and essentially grants them immortality. As she is seen as the exact recantation of the mother, the will asked for the ownership of Planet Earth be passed down to her but stuff happens and each of three sibling's want Earth for their selves.

Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles (2014)

The plot the 2014 reboot of Teenage Ninja Mutant Turles isn't greatly disimilar to that of the live action films over twenty years ago in which the central the story follows April O'Neil's (Megan Fox) desperate attempts to prove that there is a crime fighting vigilante group consisting of genetically modified turtles, unsurprisngly nobody believes her. However, deep in the sewers of New York there is indeed a crime fighting vigilante group consisting of genetically modified turtles and when New York is a target of a chemical attack they leap to the city's defence.

Gone Girl

Based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn, David Fincher's movie adaption stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne whose wife, Amy (Rosamund Pike), has disappeared in an apparent struggle. Eventually Nick becomes the main suspect of the investigation and media make him their target of their vulture like behaviour as they circle around their prey hoping to stumble across a mistake from Nick that will compound his guilt. So as Nick is public enemy number one having a young student (Emily Ratajkowski) as a bit on the side isn't going to help in the slightest.
