Kids in horror movies are creepy at the
best of times, some
of these kids are literally the spawn of Satan. Here are three movies with villainous
children that are selected for week's spooky offering of Thursday Movie Picks. These are the type of kids that make you cry out for that clown
from I.T.
Who Can Kill a Child? is a horror film about children
running riot on an island, just like they do when parents can't control their little
brats in a restaurant. On this island there are no parents, just kids. Evil
kids with a desire for mayhem and murder.
It's Alive is a 1974 horror film about a deformed, mutant baby
that kills when it's scared and as a baby it's scared often. Most notable for
being one of Bernard Herrmann's last ever films before his death in 1975 and
one of special effects legend Rick Baker's (Star Wars, American Werewolf in
London) earliest films.
This creepy British mystery has an entire colony of super intelligent
blonde kids who have the ability to read and control our minds. What do they
want, where do they come from? God knows but their blonde heads and uniformity
is enough to make one shudder. As is often the case, The Simpsons do a pretty spot on parody/homage.
I've seen the remake to It's Alive, been meaning to get to the original. Haven't even heard of that first one. That sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteIs the remake any good?
DeleteHaven't seen the first two movies, but Village of the Damned kinda had slight similarities to Children of the Corn, which successfully scared me off.
ReplyDeleteThey do sound quite similar.
Deletelol I also picked Villiage of the Damned, but I went with the remake as that's the only one I've ever seen. I believe I've seen the It's Alive remake too, but I'd love to see the original. Same with the first pick.
ReplyDeleteAre the two remakes any good? I haven't seen then myself.
DeleteVillage of the Damned is an awesome pick. All inference and the chilly reserve with which it was made adds so much to the experience of the film. It's the only one of your picks I've seen.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a horror fan at all and I've put off seeing It's Alive for years. I remember it coming out in the theatres and there being a hue and cry about how repulsive it was so that's always kept me away. I have a feeling now it would probably be considered tame so maybe I'll break down and watch it someday.
Your first just doesn't sound like its for me though perfect for the theme.
Yeah. It's Alive is pretty tame in today's world. Nothing too shocking.
DeleteI have not heard of the first film. The 2nd film totally freaked me out and gave me nightmares and that was just from the trailers on TV with the evil hand coming out of the crib. I have not seen it nor do I have the courage to. I also picked Village of the Dmmed-glowing eyed bratty kids makes this one creepy film
ReplyDeleteIt's becoming quite common for people to say they haven't heard of the first. Truth be told I'm glad that's the case!
DeleteI've never even heard of any of them. Should I be ashamed?
ReplyDeleteQuite suprirsed you haven't heard of The Village of the Damned
DeleteWho Can Kill a Child is like...the worst name for a movie ever, right?
ReplyDeleteHaha. Well....I think it's a good title in a sense it sort of questions the viewer to what they would do in this situation. Could you kill a child if your own life depended on it?
DeleteWho Can Kill A Child is such a good movie. Glad to see it featured here

ReplyDeleteI was trying to remember what movie the blonde kids in AHS:Hotel reminds me off. Now I know.
